Simple Moments To Appreciate Life With Your Partner

Posted in Happiness on May 24th, 2010 by Andrew Miller – Be the first to comment

There are plenty of happy couples out there. That doesn’t mean that all couples who have a good relationship will be happy all the time. If you find yourself having a rough patch in your relationship and would like to get back to the former closeness you shared, try the following tips.

First off, remember to talk with your partner. And talk doesn’t mean complain, or talk about your own problems.

Instead, you need to make sure that you talk to your partner about their concerns. You want to ask what is going on with their lives. Ask them about small and big thigns and let them tell you what they want to tell you. Your partner will be thankful that you have taken an interest.

Life gives you some simple pleasures; take advantage of this. You can always go for a walk in the park, have a barbecue or a picnic. Pick some wildflowers, this is free and easy and a loving gesture. Give him some time to read the newspaper. Ok, maybe these ideas are clichs but they are clich for a reason. It is because people appreciate such gestures.

In every partnership, each person has positives and negatives. Remember, you fell in love with your partner for a reason. You need to remember what you appreciate about them and focus on these things.

The negatives don’t matter. Ignore them. If he wants to watch the game instead of going out with you, that’s not a big deal. If she wishes you would clean more, but that isn’t your thing, the two of you can work that out. You are lucky to be with a partner who cares for you.

Quit worrying about what you don’t have. You have plenty. You probably have more than most of the people in the world enjoy. If you have food, and a home, and electricity, you are doing better than most people on this planet. Instead of being negative and talking about lacks, be positive and talk about plans. Share your dreams with your partner and try to work together to achieve your goals.

If you have passion, you’ll be able to manage whatever difficulties life throws your way. Happy couples don’t get stuck on the annoyances and petty difficulties. They focus on what is really important, and give all of their energies toward making their relationship strong.

Creating A Home Cinema

Posted in Happiness on May 24th, 2010 by Owen Jones – Be the first to comment

Shoppers in this new millennium are much more knowledgeable about electronic goods than people were at any time earlier. The older generation of today grew up in the 1960’s and 1970’s when everyone in the West had a television set and a stereo. Previous generations were not so fortunate for financial and technological reasons. Therefore, most shoppers nowadays have no compunctions about going shopping for complex electronic equipment like a home theater.

It is in the shoppers’ best interest to study and understand about the components that go into making up a good home theater. It is not particularly exacting and many if not all of the components involved have been around for at least a few years now. Think about what goes into a home theater:

a screen – can be a television screen, a canvas screen for a projector or a modern plasma or LCD screen. Stop thinking about the modern varieties of screen, they are still basically TV screens and they have been around for 80 years or so. Same with a projector.

a player – a DVD player is just an improved CD player and they have been out for 20-30 years. You have probably had one for most of that time. (You can add another dimension to your home theater here by swapping an Xbox for the DVD player, but games machines are not new).

speakers – they are nothing new either. Speakers have been about as long as the television set.

So you see, there is nothing in that package which you should feel awkward about buying. Fair enough, you will be buying state of the art examples of what I listed above, but they are fundamentally the same. You attach them all together with their special plugs and wires and then plug them into the mains. Switch on and it will work.

So the next question is: do you purchase a package or do you buy the elements and build your own home theater? The answer to that question really depends on your level of competency. A package is easy and may work out cheaper too, but will it have the flexibility that you want? If you have a standard sized and standard shaped room, then I am sure that you will be able to buy a package that will suit you. If you think that the speakers are sub-standard, you could always sell them on and upgrade after a period.

if you want to be certain of getting exactly what you need, I think that most people will have to buy the elements separately: that is screen, player and speakers.

The size of the screen depends on the size of the room and how close you are sitting to it: a distance of between three times and five times the diagonal of the screen is about right. However, some people like to be dominated by the screen and others do not want to wear their glasses, so it is up to personal choice.

The DVD player is a matter of individual preference too. They are all much of a muchness, but some people favour Sanyo while others favour Philips. If you want gaming capability too, use an Xbox instead of an regular DVD player.

Most rooms will require at least a 5.1 surround sound speaker set. These ought to be acquired as one package to ensure that they are all well-matched. That is five normal speakers and a sub-woofer.

What Your Kids Can Do When It Rains

Posted in Happiness on May 23rd, 2010 by Janice Masterson – Be the first to comment

Rainy days can be a real bummer, especially if you are a kid that wants to go play outside. Waking up and seeing that it is going to be a rainy day can be very depressing to little ones. Having some ideas for rainy day indoor activities can brighten the day.

1. A trip to the library can keep everyone busy. Have your kids pick out some books and they will be kept busy enjoying them when they get home.

2. Kids like to watch movies; that’s a fact. A good education movie on a rainy day is a great plan. Education movies are very easy to find and benefit everyone. The kids are satisfied and the mom feels good about the entertainment choice.

3. Having an idea box is also a good idea to cure the rainy day blues. It will be a lot of fun for the kids to go to the box and pick out surprise activities.

4. Having a dress-up tea party is fun too. You could even take more rainy day time and make poodle skirts to wear to your tea party. This can be great fun for moms and daughters.

5. Playing board games can also lighten the boredom of a rainy day and be educational. There are many to choose from so everyone should be happy. Smaller kids like to do puzzles too and they will keep them busy for quite a while.

6. Another game to play is ‘reversed writing’. Older children seem to like this and it can keep them busy for hours. The object is to write a sentence backwards and then bring your paper to a mirror to see how you did. It can be great fun and pretty challenging.

7. Baking cookies is always fun too. Kids love to help by grabbing the ingredients from the fridge and mixing the dough. The smell of the cookies baking will be amazing and eating them will be even better. Snuggling under a blanket and watching the rain while enjoying some cookies and milk will be an absolute treat.

How To Keep Your Chimney Clean And Safe

Posted in Happiness on May 22nd, 2010 by Sally Gordon – Be the first to comment

You’re a new homeowner! Congratulations! Now you’re thinking about spending those cozy evenings sitting and enjoying a fire in your new fireplace.

It’s never that easy though. You will move in and then next day a raccoon will decide to pay you a visit, via the chimney. You will have to get animal control to evict it. Then, you’ll finally be ready to light a nice fire! Only the first time you light a fire, you’ll have dark smoke backing up into your living room and covering everything with soot.

Now you are starting to realize that caring for and using a fireplace is a little more involved than you realized! Here are some tips to help you better care for and maintain your chimney:

First, have the fireplace and chimney inspected. And by inspected, this does not mean you crawl in there yourself and peer up into the chimney with a flashlight, even if you do have a very powerful flashlight. You need to actually hire a certified inspector who knows what they are doing and can spot trouble.

Hire a chimneysweep. If there are problems they can tell you and advise you on how to get things fixed. You’ll also want to keep up with regular cleanings, especially in a chimney that vents a wood-burning fireplace. Regular cleanings help prevent creosote buildup, which can cause accidental and dangerous chimney fires. You want to keep the fires in the fireplace, NOT the chimney.

Use the damper. Keep it closed when you don’t have a fire going, and open it before you light a fire. If you don’t use your damper, you lose a third of your heating and air conditioning money right out the chimney. That’s not an insignificant contribution to your utility bill!

If you don’t have one, have one installed. Just remember to open it before you start a fire!

Having a fireplace is a real treat, and adds warmth and personality to any home. Make sure you do your part to take care of this wonderful feature.

You want to pay attention to chimney maintenance for two reasons actually. The first is to make sure you can use and enjoy your fireplace. But the more important reason is to make sure that you don’t risk your home every time you make a fire.

Why Dating Older Women Could Be More Enjoyable Than You Think

Posted in Happiness on May 21st, 2010 by Lee Kelly – Be the first to comment

Research on mating in humans has shown that men typically desire young women for their child-bearing abilities. However, more and more men are finding out that dating a mature woman can be a very rewarding experience.

These types of relationships aren’t new in the celebrity world – the most famous such relationship would be Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. There must be a reason why Ashton would be willing to date a much older woman! As it turns out, there are lots of benefits to dating a mature woman; here are just a few of them.

You might find the conversation more stimulating. A mature woman is probably looking for someone to just spend time with. If your conversations fly over the heads of your girlfriends while they talk about shoes and Facebook, you might find a better match with an older woman.

A mature woman will likely be more open to discussing serious issues, such as politics, philosophy, and books. You might have a tougher time finding a younger woman who would discuss these topics.

She’ll probably be more traditional as well, being just fine with cooking dinner while you act as the man of the house. Older women grew up in a simpler time, and this is reflected by the way they interact at home. If you’re looking for a traditional household, you might find that an older woman is looking for the same thing.

Mature women might also surprise you with feminist ideas that require a more equal relationship. It can be hard to immediately tell where she stands on such issues, so you’ll probably have to feel things out to see if you make a good match.

She might show you something new in the bedroom. One of the benefits of dating an experienced woman is that she may show you new things that you wouldn’t experience with a younger woman.

With certain taboos being lifted, it’s more common to see older women dating younger men, and you might find that such a relationship is just what you were looking for. Try dating a mature woman and you could be in for the ride of your life!

Why Rebound Relationships Could Be A Good Thing

Posted in Happiness on May 21st, 2010 by Troy Reed – Be the first to comment

A serious, long-term relationship can be very fulfilling for both parties involved. However, when these relationships come to an end, it can be devastating. In these situations, it’s common for us to seek out a new love interest for a rebound relationship – someone who can ease the pain of the lost love. Most of us have experience with rebound relationships, whether we’re the ones rebounding or the new love interests.

Rebound relationships don’t have a very good reputation, with many people pointing out reasons why they’re a bad idea. However, there can be some good that comes from them as well. Here are a few reasons why going on the rebound isn’t necessary the worst thing to do after the end of a long-term relationship.

It helps us move on after the end of a previous long-term relationship. Many people become depressed after the end of such a relationship, with the pain of loss being almost too much to handle.

Some people just want to be alone at this point, consoling themselves with comfort food and sitting around, remembering the good times. A rebound relationship can help avoid this emotionally unstable state, and can ease an individual into being single rather than doing it all at once. It’s important, however, to make sure that a rebound doesn’t turn into another serious relationship.

It allows you to keep on living despite the big changes. The negative feelings that are common after a break-up, such as depression and lowered self-esteem, can keep you from living life to the fullest. To combat this waste of your time and energy, find someone who makes a good match for you and try to have fun instead.

There’s no reason why rebound relationships can’t be meaningful, as well. Just because you’re on the rebound doesn’t mean you can’t be with someone who will enrich your life.

You might even find that your new partner offers everything you want from another person, except that the timing is poor since you just got out of another serious relationship.

Don’t consign yourself to ending a rebound relationship just because you don’t think it should go anywhere. You may end up wondering what could have been if you had just given it more time.

Why Giving The Kitchen A Facelift Makes Sense

Posted in Happiness on May 21st, 2010 by Jerome Christian – Be the first to comment

How much time do you spend in your bedroom? In your living room? In your kitchen? If you had to determine which room you spend the most time in, you probably wish it were the bedroom. That would probably not be the case, however.

Children will probably answer that they spend most of their time in the family room. They probably think mostly of watching television or playing games.

Most people, if they give it some thought, will say that they spend most of their time in their kitchen.

Consider how many times during the course of the day you end up in the kitchen. When you wake up, you go into the kitchen to get breakfast. You’ll return for lunch and for snacks, or else pack lunch and snacks for taking to work or school, in the kitchen.

After your day at school or work, you’ll return home and need to make dinner. You are going to spend time prepping for this meal. Your family may come in and spend time with you while you cook. Some families even eat together in the kitchen as well. You make desserts and treats for special occasions in your kitchen as well.

Now, some people love their kitchens. They feel they have enough space to do what they need to do and enough storage, and it is the perfect kitchen for them. Most people do not love their kitchens, though. Many people dread making dinner because it is an ordeal, there is insufficient space. Others are embarrassed at the thought of having someone come over and see their kitchen.

It can feel like an unsolvable problem. You have a small space, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to fix t his. You might be surprised to find that there are remodeling solutions for just about any kitchen, to solve just about any issue.

The kitchen is the most commonly used area of the home. If you think about it, surely you will realize that it makes sense to consider renovation. Likely a home improvement person can help you regardless of what your concerns are.

A Flower Delivered With Love In Your Heart

Posted in Happiness on May 21st, 2010 by Rosemary Henderson – Be the first to comment

I once heard a woman say that “A flower delivered is a flower from the heart” At first I thought this was a slogan created by the flower industry to tug on my heart strings and get me to send flowers as a marketing ploy. The more I thought about it the more I came to realize that a flower delivered really is a flower from the heart. What better way to express yourself then sending a beautiful flower to someone you love.

A great way to fully express your love and caring is by a flower delivered, especially when you have a hard time expressing yourself. For many we keep our emotions in check for fear of looking weak or insecure. You can send flowers to anyone whether it is a mother, girlfriend or even a man in your life. A floral delivery for someone you love will make them feel special and I know you will feel good also.

A nice bouquet of flowers represents our feelings and can be sent on many different occasions. Although a flower delivered on Mothers Day is a nice thing to do you are not limited to just a few times a year. You can send flowers for someone just because you were thinking about them. Your options are only limited by your creativity. If you want to win the heart and mind of someone then send them your love and compassion through a flower.

In such a hectic world, where everyone is so busy with their lives and rarely find the time to visit with those they care about, nothing says I care more than a flower delivered. The beauty in sending flowers is that you have the chance to choose a flower that represents you and your feelings. Roses represent love as a daisy may represent purity of heart. Whatever you feel from the flower is how you represent it to the person you are sending them to. You can include in the letter a small note, for example: “A Flower Delivered For You As My Heart Is Delivered To You”

A flower delivered is an expression of love, so send someone you love a flower and show them you care. It will be felt deep in your soul and will be remembered for a long time. To bring a smile to someone and bare your soul with a thoughtful gesture.

There are many ways to show someone you care and how much they mean to you. Visit my website at Flower Delivered for great ideas on sending flowers and how you can get the best prices on floral delivery stop by and take a look today.

Online Shopping As A Current Trend In The Buying And Selling Of Products

Posted in Happiness on May 21st, 2010 by Laura Jones – Be the first to comment

We may not realize it, but many of us have become very accustomed to shopping online, so much so that it’s a regular part of our daily routine. Online shopping is still a relatively new practice, but many people would find their lives changed drastically without it.

Online shopping really represents an incredible change in the way we buy, sell, and preview products. You can use an internet-connected computer anywhere in the world to immediately view millions of items for sale. It may be one of the most important turning points in the history of commerce, and we should be excited to be a part of this revolution.

Millions of websites are offering their products and services to web surfers, despite the bursting of the dot com bubble several years ago. In addition, more of these sites are appearing every day and they don’t seem to be slowing down.

The good news for the consumer is that all this competition among e-commerce sites drives prices down and improves service. Keeping this in mind, you can wait to get the best deals as competition from other vendors forces websites to offer better prices.

There are still people who have concerns about entering their financial information to make purchases online. It’s easy to find stories about stolen credit card numbers and huge, fraudulent charges wherever you look on the internet.

However, these stories aren’t representative of the huge majority of online purchases. By being careful with your financial information and shopping only with respected online vendors, it’s almost a given that your information will be safe and properly encrypted. You may also want to use a service like PayPal, which allows you to make online purchases without revealing your information to the vendor.

You can also rest assured that your credit card statement will be free of sensitive information. It will display only the name of the online vendor, with no information about the items purchased.

These are just a few of the reasons why more and more people are moving toward online shopping for purchasing a wide variety of products.

Baseball Sees A Young Hero In Albert Pujols

Posted in Happiness on May 21st, 2010 by Julia Hudgens – Be the first to comment

The subject of the best hitters in baseball is one that can be discussed for hours, but many people have claimed that Albert Pujols could be the best hitter that we’ll see in our lifetimes.

For the sake of keeping the discussion grounded in the modern era of baseball, I will only be referring to the last 30 years of MLB.

It’s nearly impossible to compare players from the different eras of baseball since there have been so many changes to the sport over the years. The fields and the equipment have changed so much that it would be unfair and inaccurate to attempt to compare a modern hitter like Pujols with, say, Willie Mays or Ted Williams.

Since the game has changed so much, it’s impossible to determine with certainty how a player from one era would perform if he were transported to another era. However, there are many reasons to make the case for Albert Pujols as the best hitter of the current generation.

First, Pujols is young. He’s only 29 years old and he’ll likely continue to improve on his game, or at least maintain it. More importantly, he’s been consistent throughout his career. Examining some of his statistics will show us how.

Albert Pujols’ career batting average stands at .334. An average like that is usually enough to win the league. His numbers haven’t ever dipped far, either, with his lowest single-season average sitting at .312 in his second season. After that season, his lowest single-season average has been .327.

Pujols is also a great home-run hitter, with his lowest single-season number at 32. He’s also broken 40 homers in 5 of his 9 professional seasons. These are just a few of the impressive stats that he’s accumulated.

It becomes more and more difficult to argue against Pujols with every impressive season that he plays. When he does retire, it’s very possible that he’ll be considered the best hitter that we see in our lifetimes.

This writer also frequently blogs on things such as shoe organizers and plastic shoe storage boxes.
